2016/Feb/29 - Ha!

Ha, Monday!  You didn't get us down today!  The weather was nice, and we were all well and happy, and so despite it being Monday we had a pleasant day.

Grump even enjoyed work, which is practically unheard of.

A cool decoration Kuya made for Grump last year

Grump messing up a selfie

At the moment, we are struggling with a bit of an ethical dilemma.  We would really like to promote our online tea shop, ( tea-universe.com - thanks for asking! ), but in a way that isn't spammy.  Any suggestions?

WonderPoll of the Day:

1. Do you prefer to get take out or eat at the restaurant?

Doesn't that depend on the restaurant?

Most folks must eat at nice places, or consider "dining out" part of the experience, because 62% of respondents prefer to eat at the restaurant.

2. Would you rather date Channing Tatum in your dad's body or date your dad in Channing Tatum's body?

Sorry I'm so old and out-of-it I have to ask this, but who is Channing Tatum?  And isn't it a bit incestuous to date your own dad?

Anyway ..... 67% of respondents would chose to date this presumably hot young lady in their dad's body.

YIKES!  Wait a minute.  It turns out Channing Tatum is A GUY!!  This adds a whole new level of creepiness to this mess!

Ugh!  Time to rinse and wash!

Peace!

2016/Feb/28

Although Old Man Winter putting up a struggle and is reluctant to leave, Spring is finally starting to push him back into the Arctic where he belongs.  At least here in central Georgia, that is.  I don't know how good or bad the weather is where you live.

Kuya was up at the insane hour of 5:00 am, (!!), for some unknown reason.  Because of that the rest of us were up way too early too.  But on the positive side, at least we weren't late for church this morning.

While Dodong got a nap, Sweetie and Grump went to the Riverside Mall to walk around and do a bit of shopping.  (Kuya stayed home with Lola.)  Some type of cherry tree is blooming at the mall:

A Blooming "Cherry" Tree

These trees are scattered around the Mall

Closeup of the "Cherry" Flowers

Whilst at the mall we saw this really cool looking motorcycle, which from the back almost looked like a small car:

Back home we waited until Dodong was awake, then drove down to St. Joseph Catholic Church so Lola could FINALLY light a candle to commemorate the 1st anniversary of Lolo's death.   (Yes, we are a few days late; Grump had a HORRID time of it at work last weekend.)

In case you're curious we had to take the big candle back home with us, (fire concerns of the church), but we did use it to light two little ones, and now we have a candle we can light for Lolo every year.

I wonder how Lolo and Angel are getting along?

Peace!

2016/Feb/27 - Saturday! Hooray!

It's Saturday!  Hooray!!

In our yard, the plants are struggling to return to life after the coldness of winter.

Daylilies awakening from winter

While Sweetie and Lola's garden beds will soon burst forth into foliage and flower, Grump's garden beds are still in the "planning stages":

This is SUPPOSED to be a Garden Bed!

Time will tell if the "Resurrection Fig" survived and will come back this year.

Is the Celeste Fig still alive?

Kuya spent most of the day playing on the iPad.

Dodong played with blocks on the floor:

Hi Dodong!

Sweetie and Lola cooked:

Watch out for that Frying Pan!

Sweetie does the Wacky Dance

It was time to harvest some calamondins from our calamondin tree, which is still taking refuge from the cold weather in our garage.

Today was Mama Sue's birthday.  Mama Sue is one of the nicest people in the universe, so she had lots of guests wishing her a "Happy Birthday!"

Finally, Kuya made a cute little paper puppet.  He says it is a self-portrait.

2016/Feb/26 - TGIF

The Old Grump survived another week at work without quitting or getting fired!

This called for a celebration, so we all went to the local Vietnamese restaurant, Pho Saigon, and had a yummy meal.  What's cool about this place is that when you order iced tea, you get green tea, not black tea.

Dodong was fussy most of the night last night, keeping Sweetie awake, and he made his presence known all through dinner as well.  Kuya got some bubble tea with his meal; Dodong cried and cried and cried until we ordered him some bubble tea of his own.  Kids!!

WonderPoll of the day:  Do you pee in the shower?  "Yes, I'm a guy"; "Yes, I'm a girl"; or, "No, that's gross".

Well, I'm a guy, so of course I pee in the shower.  No big deal.  54% of respondents agreed with me, indicating a slight male bias in respondents.  28% of the ladies admitted to peeing in the shower, while 18% thought that was gross.  (Do any guys think it is gross?)

Peace.

2016/Feb/25

Another workday; another headache!

Not too much exciting or unusual happened today, which is a good thing, I guess.  Somedays we just need for life to go on at a steady, predictable pace.

WonderPoll of the day:  Have you ever put butter on a pop tart?

No, I have not, (yuck!), but maybe I'll try someday, because 11% of respondents answered, "Yes! It's so freakin' good!"

Then again, maybe I'll skip it.

Spenglish of the day:

"Tengo dolor de cabeza."

"Necesitas tomar tus medicamentos."

"¡Sí, y dejar mi trabajo estúpidos!"

Peace!

2016/Feb/24 - ?

Well .... something or other happened today.  Actually quite a lot, if I can remember all of it.  (I didn't write it down at the time, and I'm old, so I tend to forget.)

Let's see ....

1. Grump did NOT go to work.  Hooray!

2. Grump and Sweetie had a fantastic lunch at the ever-wonderful FOJ restaurant in north Macon.

Isn't she cute!!

Isn't he weird?

no comment!

3. Grump, Sweetie, Lola, and Dodong went to St. Joseph Catholic Church to light a candle on the anniversary of Lolo's death, but the church was closed!

Walking up the church steps

4. Dodong continue to frustrate us by trying to climb up anything and everything, including chairs, stairs, boxes, and tables.

Pondering what he will attempt to climb next

This is just a random pic I think is kinda neat:

WonderPoll of the day:  Have you ever put Vaseline all over yourself and rolled on the floor pretending to be a slug?  "Yes", "No", or "Sometimes I think I am a slug".

Ugh!  9% of folks said, "Yes".  23% admitted to a low self-esteem, while 68% percent of the respondents were sane, (at least in this situation), and answered, "NO!"

Peace

2016/Feb/23

Hey, it's Tuesday already!  Things are getting better, right?

After work all of us, (Grump, Sweetie, Lola, Kuya, and Dodong), went to the Riverside Mall and walked around a bit.  Significantly, we did NOT spend any money, which made Old Grump very, very happy.

I need to give credit where credit is due here, and note that after Grump called them this morning a guy from Quality Southern Roofing came to our house and checked out our leak.  Technically the problem wasn't the roof, but rather a bit of siding on the chimney next to the roof.  He apologized for the leak anyway, and fixed the problem.  That's good customer service.  I'd use these guys again, and would recommend them to anyone looking for a roofer.

WonderPoll of the day:  Is the color pink primarily a non-manly color?  "Yes", "No", or "Depends" were the answers.

I think so, but I'm in the minority, as only 24% of respondents agree with me.  30% chose "No", while the majority, 46%, waffled by choosing, "Depends".

Peace y'all!

2016/Feb/22 - This is NUTS!

After working most of the weekend, it was back-to-work for Grump today, where he was met with EVEN MORE stuff added to his workload.  Good grief!

I guess the less we talk about this the better!  Let's just say it was a fairly cruddy day, topped off by Sweetie pointing out to Grump that our NEW ROOF seems to be leaking already:

A Pic of Water Damage on our Living Room Ceiling, for Inquiring Minds!

WonderPoll of the day:  Do you root for the favorite or the underdog?

I guess I'm kinda weird, because except for the old Super Bowl game between Joe Namath's Jets and the Colts, I tend to root for the favorite.  Most folks, 74%, claim they root for the underdog.

Peace

2016/Feb/21 - Oh man!!

Would you believe that Grump had to go into work again today, on a Sunday!  This is getting ridiculous!

It was a fairly cruddy day.  It ended with what should have been a good dinner at Texas Roadhouse, except by then Grump was so miserable he bitched and moaned and made everyone else miserable too.

Dodong has taken to "climbing", so we have had to push the dining room table up against the wall:

WonderPoll of the day:  Who would win a fight between Muhammad Ali and Mike Tyson?

Well, for a few brief years Mr. Tyson was unbeatable, but outside of that I'd put my money on Mr. Ali.  60% of respondents chose Ali, showing that skill usually triumphs over brute force.

Peace!

2016/Feb/20 - Aaahhh!!!

Remember yesterday that we thought things were going okay for Grump at his job?  Well, it turns out the joke is on us!  Grump was called in to work at 4:00 am this morning for a few hours, then again around 2:30 pm in the afternoon for three or four more hours.  Ugh!

But rather than dwell on that nonsense, let's pay attention to more exciting details of the day, namely, young Matthew's baptism.  It was held at St. Joseph Catholic Church in downtown Macon, and was a wonderful event.

Pay Attention Grump!

Matthew didn't like being held by Grump

After the baptism, (before Grump had to go back to work), we attended Matthew's luncheon.

Whose Shadow is that, Dodong?

So despite the craziness from Grump's job, we all had a good day.

Peace!

2016/Feb/19 - Survived Another Week of Work!

I guess the big new is that Grump survived another week of work.  Woo hoo!!  Despite the crazy demands being put on him, he came through the week mostly intact.  It appears, if all goes well and the winds don't shift, that he may actually last until his six year anniversary, and become vested.

To celebrate another work week behind us, we all went to Panera's for a late after-dinner snack:

WonderPoll of the day:  Would you rather have unlimited money and a bacon allergy or unlimited bacon?

Bacon is really good, that's true, but it's no trade-off for unlimited money.  However, 13% of respondents are apparently extreme bacon fanatics, and wouldn't trade their bacon for all the money in the world.

Peace!

2016/Feb/18 - Sleepy, So Sleepy

For some insane reason it was Grump who was up early this morning, (4:00 am!).  He managed NOT to wake the kids up, but Sweetie wasn't so lucky.

The most exciting event of the day was that Dodong got a haircut:

Dodong's New Haircut

Dinner was interesting:

Grump's Dinner

Kuya's Dinner
Believe it or not, they actually enjoyed their meals.

And finally, Kuya made a Lego house:

WonderPoll of the day:  Would you rather die or eat a cute live puppy ...... with a spoon?

Okay, I'm sorry.  After the day I had I'm in no mood to joke about choosing between death for me or another living thing, let alone a cute puppy.  As for the spoon, that's just sick!

Peace!!

2016/Feb/17 - Humph, again

So it's Wednesday.  "Hump Day!", as famously proclaimed by the GEICO camel.  The workweek is more than half-way over, and it appears we will actually survive to the weekend.

Hooray!

Rather than words, I've got a lot of pics for ya today.

Dodong "eating" his dinner

Proud of his mess!

Dodong the daredevil
He's actually getting quite bad about climbing, as he has no fear.  He will climb up a chair onto the dining room table!

Dinner.  Yummy!!

WonderPoll of the day:  Would you rather be eaten by a snake or have one crawl down your throat?

That's a dumb question!  Of course it's better to have a snake crawl down your throat, because you have a chance to survive that.  But believe it or not, 54% of folks claim they would rather be eaten by one.  Weird!

Peace y'all
