A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 334

30/November/2015, Day 334.  Monday.

Grump took a vacation day today, so it was another lay-about-the-house day for him.  Since he can't lift or move anything heavy, (still recovering from the appendectomy), Sweetie and Lola had to move the old sofa up front, for the trash men to pick up tomorrow.  (Grump might just stretch this "recovery thing" on for a few more years!!)

Kuya was back in school today; Sweetie and Lola drove him there, while Grump did his sorry version of watching after Dodong.  Once they were back from dropping off Kuya, and the sofa had been moved, we all relaxed for a bit, then drove over to FOJ for an early lunch.  (It was delicious, as always!)

Dodong had a GREAT time!

Lola was not amused

She did, however, enjoy her yummy green tea

Later in the afternoon we went shopping for two booster seats for our cars.  Kuya is big enough now to sit in them, while Dodong will now sit in the car seats vacated by Kuya.

Whilst shopping we encountered a reindeer!

Kuya missed all this excitement, because he was at school.  But he did get to go to his piano lesson, where he was his normal calm self.

A "Calm" Kuya

Dinner was the last of the sliced honey baked turkey from Thanksgiving, bitter melon, and, (need I even mention it?), rice.

Goodnight all.

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 333

29/November/2015, Day 333.  Sunday.

We got up early and went to church for the first time in several weeks.  Hooray!!  Other than that, it was basically another lay-about-the-house-between-shopping-trips type day.  Very painful to our budget and already bloated credit card balance.

For lunch we got take out from McDonald's, which is one of the few places where everyone, (Dodong, Kuya, Sweetie, Grump, and Lola), can find something they want to eat.  We wound up there because the Vietnamese restaurant, our first choice, (and another one of the few places all of us like), was closed.  Bummer!

After lunch we changed into our play clothes, relaxed a bit, gathered up some bagged leaves a neighbor had thoughtfully put at the curb for us, relaxed a bit more, then Grump and Sweetie went shopping.  Woo hoo!!

Shopping Again!!

After our shopping excursion was over we relaxed some more, then had a wonderful dinner of leftovers from Thanksgiving.

Grump really enjoyed today, because he did basically ....... NOTHING!!

Goodnight all.

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 332

28/November/2015, Day 332.  Saturday.

Basically it was another shopping day.

We all got up early for a quick breakfast, then Sweetie went with Grump to his workplace.  Grump had to finish up a document that is due Monday, and since he won't be at work Monday, (HOORAY!!), he had to complete it before then.  After that they drove down to Warner Robins to go to the filipino stores to buy all sorts of yummy stuff, like frozen salmon heads.  (Ugh!)

Once back home Sweetie and Lola hung some Christmas lights, (Grump sorta helped, and did a cruddy job - you'll see the pics below), then we had a yummy dinner of Thanksgiving leftovers.

After dinner Grump and Sweetie went out again to do some Christmas shopping, then it was home for good.

Our Christmas tree doesn't look too bad:

But the outdoor lights need lots of help!

Grump never did like putting up lights!

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 331

27/November/2015, Day 331.  Friday.

Sweetie and Lola had a wonderful day mingling with the crowds for some "Black Friday" shopping.  Grump had a wonderful day sleeping late, and staying home by himself while everyone else jostled with the crowds.

Sweetie and Lola, with Kuya and Dodong in tow, shopped at the Riverside Mall, (actually "The Shoppes at River Crossing"), for over four hours!  They got some great deals, but mostly just enjoyed being out and about, and getting into the holiday spirit, (i.e., spending money!).  By the time they called Grump to come pick them up it was nearly 4:00 pm, and time for a very late lunch / early dinner.  Both Kuya and Dodong had held up better during this marathon shopping session than Grump would have, but by the time we all were leaving they were tired, and starting to get grumpy.

After dropping off Lola and the kids, (along with all the treasures they had acquired), Grump and Sweetie went to Rookery in downtown Macon to get a bite to eat.  After living four years in central Georgia they had never eaten there, so it was about time!  Yes, the food there is delicious.  Try it yourself if you're ever in this area.

Here are some pics from the shopping expedition:

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 330

26/November/2015, Day 330.  Thursday.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!!

As is becoming a tradition, we had Thanksgiving dinner at our house.  Lots of folks attended, and we all had a great time.  Grump did miss his buddy, Mr. AZ, who couldn't attend due to leg issues.  (It would have been nice for Grump to have someone to speak to in English instead of Bisaya!)

Instead of words, today we'll have lots of pics!

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 329

25/November/2015, Day 329.  Wednesday.

Grump was up most of last night coughing, (STUPID allergies!), so he was not in a great mood today.  Everybody else, however, had a wonderful day.

Kuya only had half a day of school, so both he and Dodong were home in the afternoon to "help" Sweetie and Lola prepare for Thanksgiving tomorrow.  After picking him up at school, Sweetie took the two boys to get haircuts.

Once Grump got home from work we went shopping, first to Fresh Market, where a tired Grump bought several ludicrously expensive items with money we don't have, (thank you, American Express!), then on to Publix, where we went over budget, once again relying on a credit card to cover the cost, (thank you again, American Express).

And we wonder why we have such high credit card bills!

But life is good, the credit card bills will get paid eventually, and tomorrow is Thanksgiving.  We should all be thankful, if for nothing more than our existence, and most of us are so blessed with an abundance of wealth, health, and happiness that to complain about anything is childish.  (But that never stops me!)

Goodnight all.

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 328

24/November/2015, Day 328.  Tuesday.

Dodong seemed fine today.  We're concerned about his food allergies, (allergic to fish?), but hopefully he will grow out of them.

Sweetie with a Happy Dodong

Grump had yet another doctor's appointment today, for which he had to miss work yet again.  This one, however, went much better than the appointment yesterday, and instead of waiting an hour and a half (!!), he only waited twenty minutes.  Sweetie came with him, and kept him company.

They're Gonna Poke Me Where??

Since Grump's appointment went smoothly, he was able to get back to work in a decent amount of time, and Sweetie was able to meet Kuya at his school for a Thanksgiving lunch.

Speaking of Kuya, he has been furiously busy recently preparing notes and sketches for an animation he wants to make called "Bot vs. Bin", or something like that.

He has also become interested in photography, snapping abstract pics from time to time:

We just have to be sure he doesn't get too carried away with "candid photography"!

Goodnight all.

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 327

23/November/2015, Day 327.  Monday.

Monday: back to school and back to work!

Old Grump had to miss a huge chunk of work due to a doctor's appointment.  As it was due to his employer's ridiculously bureaucratic FMLA procedures, (ugh!), he didn't feel too bad about it.  Besides, he worked for a bit on Saturday, so I guess you could say he made most of the time up.

The good news attached to this is that he and Sweetie went to lunch after his (excessively long) doctor's visit.  They went to FOJ, which was a delicious as always.

Now that cold weather has arrived, Kuya wore his boots to school:

Ride 'em cowboy!

I suppose the disturbing news of the day is that Dodong got sick from eating fish, again.  He already seems allergic to milk.  I sure hope he isn't allergic to fish!

Goodnight all!

A Day in a Year in a Life / Day 326

22/November/2015, Day 326.  Sunday.

Winter is finally bringing its icy grip to central Georgia.  It was chilly all day today, and tonight the temperature is sinking down to 30 degrees Fahrenheit, (that would be about ZERO Celsius).

Undeterred by the weather, we did what we do nearly every weekend, namely, went shopping.  Sweetie bought all sorts of "essentials" we can't possibly live without, (such as placemats!), yet ensured that we were "saving money" buy only buying items that were heavily discounted.

Just think of all the money we saved!  (Cough, cough ....)

Dinner was rice, ramen noodles, and egg, as befits a family that spends more than it earns.  (I guess we can't have fine dining every night, now can we?)

Now for some pics instead of words:
