06/May/2017 - Leaving for the Philippines

The momentous day finally arrived!  Lola, Sweetie, Kuya, and Dodong left for the Philippines!

We all got up early, and first went to Panera for breakfast.

Grump was there also!

Hi Lola!

After breakfast we drove off to the Atlanta airport.  We allowed plenty of time to get there, which was a good thing.  The interstates around Atlanta are under construction, (as usual!), and so even on a Saturday morning traffic going into Atlanta was bad.  (Is traffic around Atlanta ever not bad?)

Once at the Atlanta airport, things went smoothly.  The family checked in, went through the boarding line, and soon were zooming through the air to their first stop, San Francisco.

So Old Grump had to drive back home alone.  Poor Grump!

I wonder if our plants are going to survive without Lola's daily attentions?

Our plants are already missing Lola!

Grump's lunch/dinner consisted of a sub from Publix, blueberries and yogurt, and leftover green tea.

Yummy!

When the crew arrived in San Francisco, they encountered their first bureaucratic obstacle: Philippine Airlines would not let Sweetie take the boys out of the country without written permission from Grump.  (Good grief!)  So after some frantic phone calls, Grump wrote and signed a quick "permission slip" and emailed it to the airlines.  Whatever he did must have worked, because they were then allowed to board the plane.  (Thank God there was a lot of time between flights in San Francisco!)

Peace!
